  • General Information

The aim of these seminars is to develop the attendees' receptive and productive skills (reading and listening, speaking and writing respectively) required to master business communication in English, and thus gain the knowledge and confidence needed to become effective communicators in the working world.

The areas of study covered in the seminars include:

  • Reading
  • Listening
  • Use of English
  • Speaking
  • Writing

Naturally, major emphasis is put on speaking and listening as these skills are essential to mastering the day-to-day communication in the working world as well as any further business studies the students might want to pursue in the English language.

  • Scope of Business English

The Business English course series does not teach business or economy, but rather those aspects of English language (both vocabulary and grammar) required to become successful communicators in the working world. Essentially, this means that the sessions focus on those students who do not intend to focus on general English (ie general topics, such as family, house and home, culture, etc, including general vocabulary), but would like to master the vocabulary and grammar which they need in their jobs.

I do not offer any elementary Business English classes as there is virtually no Business English at the elementary level. Elementary stands for a common standard which focuses on the most basic knowledge of English grammar and lexis, and thus has little to do with specific purposes such as Business English. As a result, it is advisable that students successfully complete their elementary studies before taking up Business English.
